DIAAS (Digestible Indispensable Amino Acid Score)
A modern protein-quality score that accounts for ileal digestibility of each essential amino acid.
DIAAS replaces the older PDCAAS score and more accurately captures protein quality. Whey, milk, and eggs score highest (~1.0+); most plant proteins score 0.4–0.7 individually but complement each other in mixed diets. Relevant for vegans, seniors, and others where protein quality — not just quantity — matters.
