Visceral Fat

Fat stored around internal organs in the abdominal cavity — the most metabolically active and health-damaging body fat.

Visceral adipose tissue sits around the liver, pancreas, and intestines. Unlike subcutaneous fat (which sits under the skin), visceral fat produces inflammatory cytokines and is strongly linked with insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome. The good news: visceral fat is the first to go during a calorie deficit, especially when paired with resistance training and zone-2 cardio.
